Hello college coaches. My name is Ashtyn’s Magera. I like to go by AJ as well. I wasn‘t the most athletic kid in my family. Although my sisters did dance and cheer in high school and my brother was a football star who later joined the army, I was the youngest of 6 kids and I never knew when or where I would stand out and find what I truly love in life. It was 6th grade when I gave basketball a chance to see if I would like it or not. I was 5’9 and the tallest on my team my entire middle school years as I went from 5’9 to 5‘11 to 6’0 in 7th and 8th grade. My middle school years were hard and my teammates never treated me as an equal to them and never gave me and respect. I just barely stared playing and even though they were treating me differently I never gave up because I was starting to fall in love with the game everyday and every time I played it. I had a hard time finding playing time in my middle school years where I struggled to think I should quick basketball, because that what my 8th grade coach told me. Those words changed my whole prospective on things and how I need to make a difference for myef and my family name. I come from a very long line of very successful people and all I want do is succeed in the game of basketball. When covid hit it made things very hard for me to find ways to get better as my high school career was up next. I put in the work and grind everyday on shots, agility, dribbling, and strength. When my freshman year came I started every other game and become the scoring leader that year and helped us to a winning season to take third place in conference. I learned that I became a voice to others and a leader to a younger generation now over time as my sophomore and junior season were a blast on JV and how I became a imagine of a hard working leader and guided my team on a path to success. Im always positive and and look forward everyday to getting better and better at the game that I love more then anything. I learned that I am a very good knockdown shooter with amazing court vision and passes to create for my teammate. I am also a lockdown defender when the game is one the line and we have a chance to win the game defensively, I’m in there talking loud and being a leader so I can help my teammates see what I see so we can win. I wish to go into college not just for basketball but for school as well. I want to learn more and have a major in businesses entrepreneurship. I’m different from other because I always come in on time ready to play hard and get better and better and get to the next level basketball. I will never give up until i reach my goals. This is me and who I am.
