Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Micah Gatewood.  I am a 17-year-old rising senior who attends Oswego East High School. Some things that make me most successful are working with other people and helping people work to the best of their ability. I am an optimistic and outgoing person that will always put a smile on my face and make other people feel good about themselves. I am always there to lend a helping hand to those in need of guidance. I put God first over everything because without Him I would not be here today.

I have a calm and steady attitude and tend not to get mad at things or at people very easily. I am an athlete and love to play sports like basketball, track, and volleyball. As a student, I enjoy science, language arts, and history.  I also sing in the school choir and in the choir at my church.  My goal is to play in the NBA, be a sports analyst / commentator, and have a career in the entertainment industry.

One quote that I strive to live by is from my favorite superhero movie, Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility." I  relate with this quote  because when as I get older I will have  more responsibilities that will come my way, so I must be prepared for all of them.

What makes me different is my work ethic.  I work really hard on the court and in the classroom.  I have learned that I can contribute to my team without scoring by being a good teammate, encouraging my teammates when I am on the bench, and playing good defense.

Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Tremendous upside, I believe that Micah is still growing, once his body catches up to his skill level he will be even tougher to defend. Can get anywhere he wants on the court and finish in traffic. getting stronger will be very important as you go up in levels of basketball As a guard you have to chase down the long rebounds and keep your man off the offensive boards Use your length and quickness to get in the passing lanes and get steals for quick scores.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
