Attending college, my highest priority will be the hard work I put in to get my degree. I also have aspirations of playing college basketball. If I'm half the person my mother is, I'm sure to achieve the highest goals of an individual with integrity and good character. There are many people who play the part of a decent individual but lack the character traits of a good person.
It's easy to shake people's hands, to give a compliment or let someone in front of the line; but to give a homeless person your coat in zero degree weather, to give cars away free, to experience endless sacrifices by my mother has shaped my character into not only who I currently am but who I know I will be as a man one day. It wasn't I who molded the person I am, it was the leadership I have lived under since my birth. I share my character, my athletic abilities and my academics to the person who raised me.
Giving up is not an option. Finding answers, instead of excuses is a rooted character of who I am. Determine to succeed not only as an athlete but also as a student has always been a priority. Being a student athlete and properly managing my time is a must. Striving and putting forth the work it takes in becoming better than yesterday isn't always easy but always rewarding. This is what I do in the class room and as an athlete!
I'm not giving you feel good words, this is honestly who I am. It's what separates me from my peers. It separates my hard work on the basketball court and the work I put into training to be the best athlete. My coaches, my pastor and my mom can vouch for my above comments. Thank you for taking the time to read my Personal Statement.
