Matthew Heber '11 Recruiting Profile

After being homeschooled through my junior year, I am attending Class 2A Carroll High School (Flora, IN) for my senior year and will graduate with a high school diploma. After one month, my current grades are 5 A's and 1 B. My goal is straight A's. I will retake the SAT exam on October 9 and am confident about significantly improving my previous score. I played with the Carroll team during their summer program and was their leading scorer and rebounder at their team camp where they went 11-3 in games against other schools. I feel like I've been "under the radar" for a long time. I started playing basketball in 6th grade and started varsity as an 8th grader for my local homeschool club team. Last year I had 30.5 ppg and 10.2 rpg during the last six games. I have also been playing AAU for the last 3 years. My best statistical game was in the bronze division championship where we won 77-60 and I had 38 points, 21 rebounds and 5 blocks. I was 1 rebound short of a double double in a 2-point opening loss to the KY Hoyas at the Kentucky Hoopfest, who won the gold division. I do strength and conditioning year round and have greatly improved my ball handling. I love doing the ball handling drills learned at the Point Guard College. I am looking for a school within 4 hours of home but I am willing to go to a college further away. The size of the college does not matter that much. I would like to go to a college where I will get a lot of playing time even if it is not a Division 1 or 2 school. I am 6-4 and weigh 220 lb. I am getting much quicker and more explosive and am on day 30 of the P90X workout program. I find it easy to dunk the ball one or two-handed. I have a strong work ethic and excellent character. I always work hard to make my coach and team successful.
