Personal Statement
Greetings,
My name is Yaseen Zarroug but my friends call me Yaya. I'm a hungry and grateful young man working toward achieving my dream of playing collegiate basketball. I'm an American citizen attending high school in Abu Dhabi. I spent the first 10 years of my life in Palo Alto, CA and have lived in the United Arab Emirates for the past 8 years. Over my time here in the UAE, I've participated in several international tournaments in Italy, Qatar, India, and Oman. I lead the Varsity Basketball team as its youngest ever captain to an undefeated season. I was given the honour of representing the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region at various international tournaments throughout the United States, and captained the MENA team in Las Vegas this summer. I understand the hardships that come with international recruitment but I'm willing to do everything in my power to ensure I create the best opportunity for myself to succeed as a collegiate athlete. As a member of your basketball team I will give you everything I have, and work tirelessly to contribute to the success of our team. Off the court, I am a dedicated student and an engaged member of the student body.
