Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Orestis Tsilipanos.I've been playing basketball since I was eight years old. I started in Panathinaikos BC academy for fun and was always competing against older kids. Due to the restrictions on sports during Covid-19, I decided to practice in my backyard until my parents found a super friend and basketball coach who convinced me to start again in the Melissia Basketball Club and their academies. Coach believes I have excellent ball handling skills and a high basketball IQ. I play again with older kids my age (1 and 2 years) and the Team Coach occasionally gives me the "green light" to play with the junior team of 2008 born (kids at the time). I am a 'coach player,' and I am always looking for mistakes in the other team's movement and get the deflections. Playing basketball and participating in sports has taught me to cooperate with others, to be disciplined, and to respect others and myself. In addition, I had also been selected for the Greek National Youth Basketball Team of children born in 2008 part of the Hellenic Basketball Federation development program, as well as for the Attica Basketball Club League (ΕΣΚΑ), for those born in 2008.
For my school (the prestigious Athens College ) I study hard and maintain a high grade average(above 19 out of 20-3.8 GPA and above) . I am in the 8th GRADE of Junior High School (14 years old) . So far I have passed in various Math("Kangaroo","Games &Mathematics" and "PYTHAGORAS") and CTY(talent search programm of Johns Hopkins University) competitions. In Greece there are not Universities combining sports and studies and I feel really sad about this
I'm fascinated by the NBA and its history, and I'm trying to learn everything I can about it. It's a big dream of mine to attend a college where I can excel both in the classroom and on the basketball court. I hope I can meet my objectives!
DREAM BIG.
