Personal Statement
I'm a 6'7 forward from Auckland, New Zealand. I've been playing basketball for 6 years and i've always had the goal of playing basketball in America and following the path that other New Zealanders had set. I'm a very friendly and good people person and am able to form relationships with new people very quickly. I believe that i'm a very good team mate and a team first player. The goal to play basketball in America all the way from New Zealand and have the ability to both study for a degree and play basketball and develop for up to 4 years of my life is highly appealing to me, as-well as having the opportunity to spend that time in a different country learning about their culture and making memories and having experiences I never could have had at home.
In 2019 I moved to Mount Albert Grammar School (coached by ex-Tall Black Daryl Cartwright) who played in the top New Zealand high school grade, in which I averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. This team placed 3rd in the nation at the Schick 2019 Nationals where I averaged a double double of 10.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals. I also played representative basketball for Auckland that year and was a starter in 2019 in the team that went to U19 Nationals and placed 2nd in the nation. I've played all through the age groups of representative basketball from U17 to U23 which I played in as an 18yr old
In 2020 I was signed by the Franklin Bulls (coached by Liam Simmons) in the NZNBL as a development player and trained with this team. Due to covid-19 the NZNBL was shortened into the NZNBL showdown which was 6 week tournament held in Auckland. After an Injury in their first game I was then signed by the Nelson Giants (coached by ex-Tall Black Mike Fitchett) where I played 14 games and averaged 4 points and 3 rebounds and was also top 3 in the league in blocks. Playing in a professional league was an amazing learning experience and gave me a big insight to the game at the next level, I also had the opportunity to train under two very great coaches in Liam Simmons and Mike Fitchett aswell as the opportunity to play with and learn off bigs such as Mika Vukona, Mike Karena and Sam Timmins
I would love any opportunity that any coach would be willing to give me in their program.
