Personal Statement
I started playing Basketball when I was 6 years old. At first Basketball was just my 2nd sport behind Rugby and I originally wanted to play in the All Blacks or Kiwis, but over the years my love for Basketball grew and eventually outweighed my Rugby dreams so much so that I quit Rugby when I was 12 to focus on my Basketball Goals. I have always dreamed of being a professional sports player and I am willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill my childhood dream and I believe going to a college in America can only improve my chances of doing so.
Off the court I know the passion I have for Basketball and my Dedication to the game would mean nothing if I didn't use that same passion in the classroom. I have always put my School Work ahead of my sports because I believe it is ultimately the most important in the long run. I have strong interests in the Agriculture industry as well as Teaching and Coaching.
I have been Coaching for the last 3 years at Franklin Basketball Association helping run our Teamsters program for kids aged from 4 to 14. I have also coached representative teams being the assistant coach of Franklin Basketball's u13 boys Representative team for the past 2 years and have taken over as head coach multiple times also. I enjoy being able to pass my knowledge on to the youth and I feel I can relate to the kids I coach as it hasn't been long since I was in their shoes.
I believe I can offer a great deal to any team on the court due to my High Basketball IQ, Passing ability and Decision Making. I am a High Character Athlete showing leadership no matter the situation, being extremely coachable and my high work ethic separates me from my peers and allows me to reach my goals. I hope to attend a College that puts me in the best opportunity to succeed and allows me to reach my full potential; On and Off the court.
