Personal Statement

I have been keeping up and keeping a close eye on the level of competition at this level and I believe I have what it takes to excel.

I currently stand at 6 ft. 4 and can play multiple positions. I can run the offence at Point guard

with the use of the pick and roll or can be placed at the Shooting guard position with my ability to

create my own shot at will or drive to the basket with my athleticism and speed. At WQE I played

under Dave Harris. From my 2 years under his coaching and guidance I was able to transition my

game from being able to play basketball at a basic level to being able to understand the game in

depth. I was able to spend countless hours developing my game to an elite level, and this has

given me an abundance of confidence in my game being successful at any level. The fact that I was

able to reach the regional finals as a 17-year-old against top competition, with little experience

shows you the potential I have to be great. I want to be the BEST and I won’t settle for anything

less than this. All I need is your support and belief in me. I believe in this quote that “no bird soars

too high if he soars with his own wings”. This shows me that to achieve, my big dreams, I will need

help along the way. And at this stage of the journey, I will need your help to enable me to be as

dedicated as I want be in the sport, that I am ever so passionate about. I want to reach my FULL

potential and I am willing to put the work in to reach it. During my time at WQE, I was able to

access the College gym in my final year at the College, through the strength and Conditioning

programme led by Ms. Hawksley. She helped me create my own personalised workout routine,

that enabled me to be more athletic on the basketball court and get even stronger. This allowed

me to quickly grow and realise my potential, as she was eager to help me reach my personal goals

during the year. This support allowed me to understand the process and also helped me gain

patience while I continued to consistently work off the basketball court. I am forever grateful for

her guidance and help, as it allowed me to really focus on a plan of action towards my goals and

dreams.

In addition, I also believe, I have the ability to balance my education with my sport. I have shown

this through achieving A, B, C at A level while missing College for sporting commitments

throughout the year. This shows that I can excel on the basketball court, whilst also maintaining

high grades off it.
