Personal Statement
My name is Simon Chris Obiekezie. I'm a 19 years old, student-athlete who will not stop playing basketball. I stand at six feet, five inches, with a wingspan of 6' 10". I have been playing shooting guard because of my great shooting ability, as well as my strong ball handling skills. I enjoy working hard on my game everyday as well as on my academics, because being talented is just not good enough for me. I must work hard to fully achieve my God-given talents. As an athlete I hate to lose a game. And I love winning so much! To elevate my game, I have worked hard to become more than just a better player. Working hard with my private Coach has been a huge blessing to my game. I am a humble student, well disciplined with a great perseverance. I'm so thankful to the Lord for my family and also for the wonderful people that I am blessed with to help and support me as a person and as a student-athlete. As a devout Christian, I have learned the importance of diligence and perseverance as a player. Hebrews 12:1-2 says, And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Denying our body’s desire to quit when it gets hard, we push through and build up the physical and spiritual toughness that it takes to follow Christ. As a committed student-athlete, I must first take great care in completing my studies. I want to become something positive in life, so that I can be able to support my family. And hopefully I will have a chance to peruse my athletic dreams after graduation by the grace of God. I hope to develop my skills as a player to become the servant leader I know I am able to be. Some day I hope to work with college Coaches. I believe that I am a great candidate for a college basketball team because of my strong passion for the game that motivates me to be the best that I can be.
