Ognjen Petkovic '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ognjen Petkovic and I am from Kragujevac, Serbia. My dream is to come to the USA and

play basketball while pursuing a strong academic career. 

I am eighteen years old and currently I am playing basketball for the “KK Radnicki 1950” and I am playing

for both senior and junior team. Since I started playing basketball when I was seven years old, the logical

step after elementary school was a high school that will meet my life of an athlete. I enrolled at high

school “Prva Kragujevacka Gimnazija where I am currently at 4th year, which is the final year of my high

school. My GPA is: A.

From the very beginning, in youth categories, I played as shooting guard or point guard. I started playing

for the senior team at age of seventeen.

For the last two years I had an opportunity to work with 2 former ex-Yugoslavian National team players

Bogoljub Djuric and Nikola Loncar. Nikola Loncar was a champion of Euro league with Partizan in 1992

and won 1 gold medal on FIBA European Championship, 1 gold medal on FIBA World Championship and

Olympic silver in 1996 in Atlanta.

During pioneer U15 days, we’ve participated at strong tournament held in Bologna, Italy. Competition was

good and we went to the finals after beating Slovenian team Helios Suns. Unfortunately, we have lost in

finals where we played against Maccabi from Israel. As a younger cadet I have played in the best league

in Serbia. We ended being 6th of twelve teams, but we had some good wins, I can remember one against

NBA rookie Nikola Jović who played for Mega Belgrade back then. Next cadets season we played the

same league and ended being 4th in regular part of the season. Last season for Senior team we had an

amazing success going from the third to the second-best league in Serbia. Currently I am playing for

junior and senior team and in junior team so far, I average 20ppg, 4.5rpg, nearly 6apg and 2 steals per

game.

With regards to my physical characteristics, I currently weight 81kg and I am 1.83cm tall.

Since I believe that Serbian basketball school and approach turned me into the player that can meet

international criteria, I have strong desire to gain international academic and sport experience, which is

why I have decided to contact you and discuss possibilities for my enrollment to your team and University.
