I've seen and have struggled my whole life and sports has always been my outlet for positivity. Weather it was me seeing my mother struggle to make ends meet or losing my father to gang violence at a young age I always could find piece in sports. Throughout my time playing sports I learned that I'm very resilient and that I have a natural passion for leadership though it may be from the way I was raised I believe that sports have subconsciously instilled values in me that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Though sports may be very important to me I know that one day it will come to an end and that is where my values academically come into play. I'm originally from Barbados where knowledge and facilities for sports especially basketball are limited at best so my plans are to further my education to a point where I can not only but build said facilities that are needed but share the knowledge that I would now be in abundance with to the next generation of athletes. Even though I'm not quite where I want to be I am extremely far off of where I used to be but that wasn't without many obstacles. The main one I had to face was almost everyone that I came in contact with told me I wouldn't make it even had a time that my mother told me the same thing but one characteristic that allowed me to block out the noise, keep my head high and continue to pursue my dreams was never letting nobody in this life other than GOD to tell me that I can't do anything.
