Personal Statement
Rylan Celesto (Australia), Anticipated Entry Term: Fall 2020
Being the youngest player of an undefeated team and winning the Outer Schools Basketball League Championship for Sandgate District State High School is one of the highlights of my high school career. That same year, I was finally selected to play Representative Basketball, after a number of years of trialling. At the end of my first Rep Season, I was honored to play State Level for my State at an AAU Tournament in Las Vegas, competing in the West Coast National Championships. Part of my ongoing development as a student-athlete involve my second season playing Rep Basketball, when our team only won one game during the season. In addition, being overlooked for selection for a number of years to play Rep Basketball helped me re-evaluate myself to be the player I am today, a dedicated point guard, suitable to play at the Collegiate level. I’m thankful of being part of a championship team, winning also the finals at club level, teaching me the importance of teamwork and commitment.
