Personal Statement
Opposite to the stereotype, I have always tried not to center my entire life around my favorite sport and around being a student-athlete, but to center it around becoming the best human being I can be. Yes, I really love basketball and I have been continuously dedicated to becoming a sport champion, but also, I am always trying to be a well-rounded person in different ways. So, in addition to my academic focus which is well represented by my 3.9 GPA, and my rich extra-curricular activities covering sports, arts, charity work, and organizational leadership, comes the 10-year successful basketball career which started in 2014 at the age of 6 years! Now, being the high school varsity team captain and the Gezira Sporting Club U16 team captain, I have just been picked to play U18 and consequently got a chance now to join Egypt’s national team U18. Given what I mentioned earlier, I am looking forward to joining a highly ranked basketball team of an academically excellent liberal-arts-education university.
During my basketball journey which comprises around two thirds of my entire life now, I have learned about myself, and have known what exactly can make me very successful in life. In other words, characteristics / behaviors / skills that make you successful in the court are the same that make you successful in life. Basketball is about passion and continuous dedication. About teamwork and how to always put team objectives first. When you fall in the court, you must stand-up again and resume. Even when you get a painful defeat, you must allow yourself some time to feel the pain and reflect, then always learn from your defeats to continue the hard journey towards championship. See? All what it takes to become successful basketball champion, should certainly make you a successful and probably society-influential human being. I am confident that I will become one.
