Personal Statement
My name is Jai Bailey. I currently live in Tokyo, Japan on a military base. I am 6'1, 170lbs SF/SG. I am a senior at Yokota High School where I play varsity basketball, tennis and soccer. But basketball is my main love! I had a very successful HS basketball season last year. I helped my team win the FAR EAST Tournament. I was named the MVP of the tournament. I also received the Stars and Stripes Male Student Athlete of the Year for my school. There are many kids living overseas on military bases that want that opportunity to play at a collegiate level but don't get the exposure the make it there. This is why I have also joined an International AAU Basketball Team, Tokyo Samurai, and play with them all year. During the summers, we travel to the States and play in several Hoop Groups tournaments. I love this experience and challenge to see how my game compares to "stateside" basketball players. For the last three years I have accepted that challenge and improved my game tremendously. I am an outstanding student and a hard worker on and off the court. I know that my commitment as a player, teammate, and student will help me succeed at any college program I am given the opportunity to be a part of.
