Personal Statement
To start off, I will say that basketball is everything for me, and I would never replace putting extra work in and shooting around after practice/game with anything in my life. Right now, getting into a college basketball team, is not just a goal, but a dream too. It does not mean that as soon as I will achieve it and relax, it is exactly the opposite. I am working constantly on connecting basketball with my life forever, because it is something that I love with all of my heart. Therefore, getting into college basketball team will only motivate me to work even more and harder, as for me it means more opportunities to improve as a basketball player and a person. The unique part about me, is that I have an attitude of doing everything on the court with my full heart. For example, when I play defense against people 20+ who played pro, even they struggle because I give out all I have to prevent them from scoring or making an assist. In addition to that I am a leader on and off the court. I help my teammates to develop on the court by commanding them and during breaks give them advises. I manage to read the game from both sides, physical and mental, I can see when the opposite player is completely overclassing my guy, therefore I call a switch and play defense instead of him, or I can notice when for some reason somebody started struggling with confidence on the court and I know what to tell them to improve. As results of all of this, I had experience where I made the team massively better in every single aspect in short period of time. For example, I lead a team with very poor talent to the 6th spot in all of Dubai.
Off the court (which is rare for me), I have a pure healthy lifestyle and motivate people around me to do the same. Normally I am the one calling my teammates to go and play in the park and so on. Also, I have an ability to learn new skills in very short amount of time. Even though I practice for only 1.5-2 years, I am playing better than most of the people who had been practicing since their early childhood. Such thing happens because I combine the quantity of practicing with quality. There is not a single second during team practice or a game, when I take a step back and have a thought in my head that somebody else would do that.
My academics are on high level too. All my MAP tests' scores are 260+ and I am in 95% for all of them. All teachers relate to me as a hard working and responsible student who does not look away from his tasks. I study in Dubai, in Gems International School - Al Khail. It is an IB school, and my grades are mostly 6's and higher. Even though, I am not as passionate about academics as I am about basketball, I still pay huge attention to it, because I understand that it is super important for me.
