Personal Statement
I am a 6''0' point guard who has dedicated his life to the game of basketball. Throughout my life, I tried many different sports from swimming to soccer, but none of these sports grabbed my attention until I got introduced to basketball. When my parents enrolled me for training when I was 10, they saw something that they did not expect, a passion for the game. I would dedicate most of my week going to training and spending time at the local park to work on my handles and my shot. It wasn't until 2 years ago that I started to have aspirations to go big, I started watching games and learning from the pros. I started going to practices with players that are at a higher level than me.
The highlight of my career so far was being in a league with overseas players and being the youngest one in the whole league. I did not get a lot of playing time but sitting on the bench and watching them has taught me a lot about how I should play the game. An important thing that I have learned is sacrifice, which I learnt when my practice schedules changed. Practice started at 5 am, 4 times a week, which meant I have less time in the evening to go out with my friends. Instead, I would have to prepare for the early morning training.
Over the years, I have learned and devoloped number of assets and skills that make me an ideal basketball player inside and outside the court. I can keep my team under control in pressure situations. I will try and keep my team in a good spirit after a loss. I try to develop the people around me. I always try to adapt to the environment around me. I listen and learn from any advice. I can control myself in heated situations. I balance my time between education and sports. I identify what is a priority and what is not. I understand the importance of education. I am driven to get a degree with the addition of basketball and I want to continue to learn academicly and persue my dreams in basketball
