Personal Statement
As a 16-year-old who is passionate about basketball, I have set my sights on playing at the collegiate level in the United States. My dream is to join a team that values teamwork, dedication, and hard work.
What makes me a good candidate for your team is my commitment to the sport, my work ethic, and my ability to adapt to new challenges. I have been playing basketball since I was 10 years old and have won the national tournament 3 times with my team, club Aguilas. My position on the team is as a point guard, and I am left-handed.
In terms of character, I am a quick learner, highly adaptable, and always willing to put in the extra effort to improve. I value teamwork, communication, and mutual respect and believe that these are essential qualities for success in any team sport.
In academics, I am a high achiever with an average grade of 90 percent (A) and am committed to pursuing my academic goals alongside my athletic pursuits. I am interested in studying sports management, nutrition, or physiotherapy in college.
Before I started playing basketball, I practiced Kenpo and achieved a junior black belt. I am also the sports delegate at my school. In addition to basketball, I have taken Salsa and Bachata dance classes. I play on my school's basketball team, and we recently won a Central American high school championship.
As part of my endurance training, I have run two 10 km races in Guatemala this year, completing them in under 40 minutes and finishing among the top positions. I plan to continue running because it has significantly helped me on the basketball court.
Thank you for considering my application.
