Personal Statement
My goals are bigger than life. A South African boy at average height playing basketball overseas professionally has never been heard of but I want to change that, starting out as a swimmer to a rugby player then a soccer player and excelling in all fields playing at-least 2 years above my age group I am a born learner, leader, athlete and problem solver. Playing point guard as an 18 year old for 3 separate teams being division 1 and premier division alongside semi professional and professional athletes and for an under 19 team that placed 1st in the EBL in 2022 has taught me to think quicker, move at my own pace and be as creative as a painter. I've developed and become a sharp shooter at the 3 and in the midrange, in 5 games played (due to municipality problems in Johannesburg) for the premier team I managed to average 6 points on 82% Field Goal, 65% 3 PT, 1 rebound per game and 7 assists per game on a total of 15 minutes played (3 Minutes per game) For my division 1 team we've played 2 games and I average 3 points on 75% Field Goal, 50% 3 PT, and 6 assists per game. Lastly for the under 19 team in 2022 and 2023 in 10 games I have averaged 20 points per game on 67% Field Goal, 47% 3 PT, 4 rebounds per game, 15 assists per game and 3 steals per game. But these statistics do not reflect my game, I am a two way threat with explosive feet and great court vision, a playmaker, shooter, shot creator, ball-handler and great finishing ability. I have also been told I have the basketball iq of a 23 year old. Playing with 3 teams at once allows for me to experience and learn new cultures and ways of basketball, I use this as a strength and bring in a combination of all team cultures onto the court at practices, game time and in our group chats constantly reminding everyone to be the best version of themselves and I would associate this as well as my ability to converse closely and deeply with many people, to our winning factor and my player development skills. I might not be able to put up 30 points, 50 assists and other good looking statistics every game, but one thing I can guarantee is that my teams energy will be felt as soon as we walk in the door, step on the court and score every single basket, one can never lose when culture is within them.
