Personal Statement
I have been playing basketball ever since I could walk; I practiced 2 hours a week until I was ten. My dad played volleyball growing up and My grandfather basketball(he initially taught me the sport), After making my AAU team as a 6th grader and doing nothing and losing every game we played by at least 20, for the full year I was upset, I had only 2 points in 6 games, at the time I was 5'6. So, I set out to be the best, and wouldn't you know it; it worked, I grew 5 inches over the year, added 10 pounds in muscle mass, added 10 inches to my vertical. That's not all, due to an injury from a fall, I was forced to stay in recovery where I picked up volleyball, and due to the apparent natural talent from my father I excelled but also because I had set numerous record in High Jump which helped me even more. We ended up winning the championship and my first ever. We went undefeated, losing only one set in the entire tournament. This wasn't enough, because I had to lead the team the next year I went and trained with the varsity team to improve my volleyball and basketball skills, this is when I was invited to Jason William's camp in India and met Eban Hyams, who's camp I also attendeded. This helped me practice my skills and led to me playing sports six days a week, which helped my skills. That's when basketball season came, by this point I was a 6'2 giant who could finish at the rim and draw the foul, which of course helped. Then at the tournament, I had my real breakthrough, highest scorer on my team, most blocks in the tournament, MVP, and I helped my team win it's first game in three years and brought them a trophy in 3rd Place, but the real challenge was just coming up. See, our team when I was a seventh grader consisted of all 8th graders who now moved on to high school. So my friend Bernardo(our setter) and I had to rebuild this team and that we did. We made a whole new team that could challenge the best teams at ASIAC/AAU, and when game day came, we accomplished a lot 18 points per set was basically a record on my team and school. This was also averaging four service aces a set, but alas, it wasn't enough to overcome the stacked team. We ended up coming 2nd, but as Captain and MVP, I was more just impressed by this team; we had a young roster, all of whom could easily take the title next year. Thus, came the Pandemic, and since then, I moved to high school.
