Personal Statement
Basketball to me has become something I love unexplainably. I love every aspect of the game and every challenge. All the success and shortcomings are just steps in my progression as a player and as a person and I seek to learn from every experience. To me, no part of the game is too small. I understand that even the smallest details can separate great teams and players from the rest. This is why I find joy in the "less fun" aspects of the game. My obsession with improving has driven me to spend hours perfecting shots, footwork, or ball handling to carefully studying game film and player film to improve my basketball IQ. Wherever I see there is room to grow, I push for it. This why I constantly work to perfect my craft because as good as I get, I can get better.
As much as I love basketball, I understand that I am a student-athlete so my studies come first. This is why I work as hard as I can both inside and outside of the classroom to excel as much as I can academically. I prefer to take harder more rigorous courses because the challenge it brings also allows for an opportunity to grow. This is why I push myself as hard as I can in school to give the best I can.
As a player and point guard, I value passing and reading the game more than other things. Making the right play is something that I have learned to do. I love setting up my teammates to put my team in the best position to win the game and grow. Whatever impact I can make, whether that be assists, points, or hustling on the defensive end, I work do so that my team prospers. I would love the opportunity to play in a college system to better improve myself as both a player and a person, and hopefully, I can work to improve the environment in any way I can. No role is too big or too small because every part of a team matters.
