Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Ricky Anthony Campbell. I'm 18 years old. I live in Australia, NSW, Sydney. I am 6'1" and play point guard. I am very loud and can communicate well with my team on offence, defence, and even on the bench. My love for this game is undeniable. I have elite handles, making it easy for me to blow by defenders to score for our team or give an assist. My finishing is unmatched; I can finish over all sorts of players in the paint. My mid-range shooting is very consistent, but my 3-pointer shooting is semi-consistent. I am working on being more consistent at the 3-point line. My defence is very aggressive, and I take pride in my defense. I hustle for loose balls and steal and even block my IQ for the game, which is good but will come better with studying the game more and getting more experience.
I usually average academic grades of C and B marks (Australian mark system). I always try to do my best and apply myself in school, as I would love to also study psychology one day, as I believe the mental side of the game and even life are very important and are a big key to becoming the best version of yourself. I have also obtained a basketball scholarship from my high school, Elderslie High School in Australia.
My goals with basketball are to play professionally one day and to provide for my family and friends, as I believe what they have done for me since I was a baby is truly inspiring. My brother has played a big part in my life; he has helped shape me into the man I am today, and he has helped me a lot physically and mentally as he is very wise and he always had my back, so achieving these goals is not just for myself but for the others around me.
You have to take risks in life; if you don't, you will never know the outcome, as there is no correct way to live your life. I'm not trying to say the correct answer; I'm just doing what I feel, but that doesn't mean being rude to anyone else.
What makes me different from other candidates? Well I believe that there is a lot of talent out there you can have all the talent in the world but if you are not obsessed and disciplined talent can only take you so far. I believe my work ethic is unmatched for my age and what I feel most kids my age are doing I sacrificed a fair bit too get to my level I don't drink, drugs, smoke and i rarely party i just focus on me and the people im doing this for. I also know a lot of people will say they are good at a majority of everything in basketball but I believe in honesty I said I'm not that good at 3 pointers and there's a lot of other things I can improve on even the things I'm good at but I believe telling the truth is the right thing to do as telling the truth is crazy in a world full of lies.
But all you can do is trust in God and have faith in his plan, as he has already written your story. It's up to you or me to execute the ending. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this. I hope you have a great day or night.
NOTE: I do not know my GPA and I have not gone for it, so what I've put as my GPA now is the mark I average in class for tasks and assignments, which ranges from C to B.
