Personal Statement
At the moment i am studying Applied Science, Physical Education and Biology at AS level. In PE i have used video and discussion about basketball as part of my assessment. I learn a lot about the body in PE however Biology gives me a even better understanding of the body which will be very useful in this subject.
I have completed the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and am currently undertaking the Gold Award and hope to complete it within a year. The Expedition element has given me navigational and map reading skills, as well as responsibility and independence. I have also completed the Junior Sports Leaders Course (JSLA) which involves planning and leading several sports sessions with younger pupils from Junior Schools in Plymouth. This has given me coaching and leadership skills as well as patience with managing up to twenty young people in each session.
I have been playing Basketball since I was five years old. I went to my first training camp when I was nine when the minimum age was thirteen. I currently play for Plymouth Marjon under 18s, Plymouth Raiders Academy, Plymouth College, Jayhawks (a local league team) and I have represented the south west of England both nationally and internationally for the last five years: touring in Belgium three times and also in Poland, Sweden, Estonia and Prague. I also captained Plymouth College and lead the team into the under 18s final eight in the country when we were all still 17 years of age.
I have been to Belgium with Plymouth Marjon and was a runner up for MVP of the tournament. I have also attended two five star camps winning awards each time I have attended.
