Personal Statement
I started playing basketball at the age of fifteen back in my home town of dar es salaam, Tanzania and immediately fell in love with the sport. I have since then developed a drive different from all the others that made me outgrow my peers physically and mentally in the game of basketball. Later that year i got selected by my high school team and three years later i was named most valuable player of the lamineas tournament which is held every year for the schools run by the brothers of christian instruction East Africa, i graduated high school with a 3.3 GPA and a certticicate in sports. Throughout the three year period i trained with different local clubs that helped carve me into the player i am today. I have very good ball handling skills and posses a basketball IQ that continues to grow everyday. I never really understood the value of hard work until i began playing the sport, every single match i have lost drove me to push myself to heights even i wasn't aware of. Basketball in Tanzania is not really a major sport so i lacked a lot in terms of equipment and training facilities, stats were never recorded and often times i would go long distances just to train and this would often interfere with my school schedules, i had learned to value the less that i had access to and upon finishing high school with the help of my mother i decided to come to china where i would have access to more facilities, will be easily spotted and because it was the only financially affordable alternative. My goal is to one day play professionally because it has been my dream ever since and to inspire the youth of my country letting them know that no matter where you are from hard work and dedication will get you there, and through the education i would have acquired in college find a way to uplift the game of basketball in my home country
