Chioni Dela Cruz '20 Recruiting Profile

Hello to all Coaches, my name is Chioni Dela Cruz. I am a student of the game of Basketball, and have been a competitor since I was 6 years old. Basketball isn’t the biggest sport here in the CNMI (Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands,) but it was a sport that I’ve grown to love so much. I’ve been around the sport ever since I was a child; as my Dad played the sport when I was a bit younger. I’ve competed in the Marianas Basketball Tournament (MBT,) where the winners would qualify to move on to the FIBA-Oceania U19 tournament, at the age of only 14. Despite our loss in that tournament, we won the Silver medal, out of the 8 teams competing. Personally, what makes me a good candidate for the team is how I can spread the floor with my shooting ability. I have been well know as a good 3-pt shooter, and have been working on my shot since I got serious about basketball. I feel like I can handle the ball well; and I can create open shots not only for me, but as well as my teammates. I am a student of the game, and look forward to improving and working on my skill set each day.
