Personal Statement
Hello,
My name is Mathew Richardson, I am in the graduating class of 2020. It has been my dream of playing at the next level in college and I have been working hard academically as well as training for athletic purposes such as being recruited. Not only is playing at the next level my dream, but the fact of finding the right college to help me get started on the life I want me and others to remember. Throughout my life I have worried about my future, and I believe that because I worry, I will be better prepared for what will be thrown my way, and I want a college to help, as well as guide me to get passed the obstacles.
I believe what sets me apart from other recruits is that I have struggled so much during my freshmen year and it really led, and motivated me to do, and become so much better through school. I believe I have overcame the struggles and Ibelieve that I am now on the right track. I want to say that I will be a success story and will continue to work hard. I also believe that after my freshmen year, I have matured and became responsible during the times that were hard and through that, I know not to give up no matter how hard it gets.
What makes me different from other recruits athletically is that I know the art of basketball and the skills put in to work on being successful when playing. I have accepted the fact that I am "short" and that I am not as athletic as some of the top recruits, but I believe that knowing the game and becoming a "scientist" of the sport meaning that I study my opponents, as well as looking at the basketball floor like a chess board and scoring points fundamentally is just as good.
