Personal Statement

My name is Paul Rho Jr., and I have dedicated the majority of my life to my love for basketball. In my youth,  I participated in Ballislife Jr. All American, BigFoot Las Vegas Tournament, NBA Warriors Camps, UCLA Camps, Nike Basketball Camps, just to name a few. I am a combo guard with a playing style of Devin Booker, Jaden McDaniels, Klay Thompson, and Ja Morant as I am a spot up shooter and drive to the basket. I have ascended the ranks of Quantum, a prestigious basketball institution in South Korea (home to many Korean National Players and Hyungjung Lee, a D1 NBA-bound player). I now volunteer as a youth coach at Quantum, as well as train there to supplement my leading role as the captain of YISS Basketball, and only wish to ascend through basketball by training harder and challenging myself more as time goes by.

Awards and Activities

  • AwardsParticipating in a 1v1v1 basketball tournament, each representing their schools, in one of the most famous basketball programs in Korea; Quantum Basketball. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXs7vu-qF74&t=390s I've been an honor roll student throughout my High School I've taken many online college courses through Coursera to learn more about my major, which is Sports and Entertainment management or marketing. I've taken courses from a prestigious university in South Korea, known as Yonsei University. Furthermore, I am currently taking online courses more about media management and marketing.
  • ActivitiesCreating and expanding a club called 'Intramural Sports Club', which initially started out as playing any sport during our free period in school; opened to all high schoolers. I've thought of an idea to expand it by helping elementary or middle schoolers in our school with assistance regarding sports to gain volunteer hours as an extra incentive. Furthermore, we would build funds through school events to establish charities in order to donate to local schools in Itaewon. Furthermore, I created a proposal for a sponsorship from Quantum Basketball, a well renown basketball institution in South Korea; they would contribute by helping teaching kids and with the branding that would, in the long goal, institute a strong and well established club here in Yongsan International School of Seoul. Volunteering as a coach for Quantum Basketball on Saturdays. I would teach elementary kids at Yongsan International School of Seoul as well as middle schoolers from a variety of other international schools such as Seoul Foreign School, Chadwick International, and Yongsan International School of Seoul An officer position, creative designer, for L-Crew: A well respected and protected club helping new kids and freshmens in high school adapt to the school environment and curriculum; we serve as their mentors.
