Maceo Lennard Gulich '25 Recruiting Profile

Hey! My name is Maceo and I‘m a basketball player from Germany, who’s currently 19 years old. 

I really love this sport and I am very passionate about it. I‘m always motivated and want to learn new skills, which also gets my team motivated. My focus on the basketball court is guarding the best guard on the other team and scoring from the 3 point line and taking midrange pull ups. 

I always played in higher leagues at a young age and started to play men’s league when I was 15. I also played in the NBBL, which is the highest 19u league in whole Germany. In 2022 I participated in a 3x3 tourney, where my team went all the way to the finals in the age group 18u. I always participated in camps where players showed up out of the highest men’s basketball league in the country. 

Although I am not a ‘ball hog’ who needs the ball in his hands to be profitable for the team. I shine through my overall attitude on the court. The mood is always good and the motivation is always high. I can hold a team together and I am a past first type of player. 

My grade point average of 3.6 makes it easy to participate in every practice and team event. You can always rely on me showing up and giving 120% effort. 

I want to get attend the major of teacher development methods, nursing or practical nursing. 

I‘m playing basketball for 9 years now and it’s been my favorite sport ever since. There‘s no highschool basketball in Germany, which means I‘m playing club basketball for my entire basketball career. I am now playing in men’s league (Regional Liga) in the club team SW baskets. I am playing there for two years, because some friends of mine have been playing there and told the coach that I would be a perfect fit for their team. Since the first practice the team has been like a second family to me and we won the west German national championship in 18u. 

I am a 6‘2“ shooting guard, who can also play point guard if he needs to. I’ve always been a scorer but because I’ve done an exchange year in the USA for 10 months in 2022/23 I became a pretty good defender. 

I am a very energetic player who fires up the whole team and always creates a positive but concentrated atmosphere. I get along with every coach. I've always had a very good relationship with my teammates. 

My focus on the court is playing defense and hustling for every ball (e.g. offensive rebounds and loose balls). But I'm also a 3 point shooter, who can create open shots for other players. Another aspect is that am would consider myself as a pretty fast player, which means once I caught some speed I can get to the hoop very often.
