Personal Statement
I discovered my love for basketball at age 12. From that moment on I promised myself to work as hard as I can to be the best I can be. At age 13 my journey took me to Sweden, I had a full year of self development, playing basketball before and after school and embraced the opportunity to grow both as a player and as a person. In 2022 I joined my local club, and that’s where for the first time the work finally showed. My sports journey hasn’t been the smoothest to say the least, but I learned to appreciate losses more than the victories. Losses teach you valuable lessons that you otherwise wouldn’t gain from victories. It is important to remember that success isn’t linear, rather it is a journey that can plateau and even go back at times, thus staying consistent is detrimental. I am not afraid of putting in the work. I enjoy it. Looking ahead, I am eager to continue this journey at the collegiate or professional level. Basketball has been more than a sport to me; it’s been a constant in my life, teaching me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of perseverance. So to say that I want this more than most is an understatement.
