Personal Statement
My name is Chandler Skelton and I am a 6’4 Australian combo guard at The Scots College in Sydney NSW.
I am a proficient scorer at all three levels (finishing, mid-rage, 3-point) equally effective with and without the ball.
I am a defensive leader with a team first mindset who brings intensity and voice.
I represent the Scots College in Sydney, Australia. In 10th grade I played in the varsity team contributing on-ball defence and offensive spacing off the bench. Our team won the championship. In 11th grade I was a leader and ran the offence averaging 20.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 3 assists whilst being selected for the 2nd team - all conference. In my 12th grade year, I was selected team captain, our team finished 2nd. I averaged 21 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals. After the season I was selected in the 1st team all-conference, I was also fortunate enough to be selected in the NSWCIS team (all-state team).
The Scots College is a part of the Athletic Association of the Greater Public Schools (AAGPS) in New South Wales, Australia. AAGPS is the premier high school basketball league in Sydney. At the end of my grade 11 varsity season I was selected to represent the AAGPS in inter-conference games and lead the scoring averaging 18 points. At the end of my grade 12 season I was selected again to represent the AAGPS in inter-conference games.
Scots has developed players such as Issac Humphries (Kentucky University, Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic) and Gerard Martin (Grand Canyon) both of whom I was fortunate to workout with regularly when they returned to Australia during the pandemic.
After several years of development, Scots gave me an opportunity to start as point guard for the junior varsity team in grade 8. I have also been selected to represent the Sydney Comets each year beginning in grade 5, including winning a State Championship. Most recently I have been selected to represent the Sydney Comets at its highest level, playing youth league division 1 (u23).
I currently work with AUSA Basketball (https://www.ausafacility.com/) who have developed multiple Sydney athletes for college programs over the course of its establishment. They also regularly workout professional athletes from the Sydney Kings and Illawarra Hawks (NBL).
I would be delighted to discuss whether I can contribute to your program. Please contact me on +61 407 107 801 or [email protected].
