Personal Statement
My name is Jack Meagher, I am an Australian born 6’5″ Shooting Guard/ Forward (class of 2021) who averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds per game and was the 3rd highest point scorer across all teams in the Premier Sydney GPS (Independent Schools) High School basketball competition as a starter in Scots College First Varsity Basketball Team. I have been in the Varsity 1st Team for the past 3 seasons.
The Scots College basketball program is recognized as one of the premier development Basketball programs in Australia. As part of the program I have had the opportunity to train everyday and be mentored from former US Div 1 & 2 College players. The Scots College has produced many US College Division 1 & Division 2 basketball players. One of the most recent was Isaac Humphries who was 4 years ahead of me. Isaac went to Kentucky and was recently signed with the Atlantic Hawks and then the Orlando Magic in the NBA.
In the 2019/2020 GPS Premier Senior High School season, the most competitive High School basketball competition in NSW I had a Double Double in 19 out of the 25 games I played and lead the school in scoring and rebounding helping the School to win their first High School Championship in 7 years.

Across the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons I had a combined 922 points.
I'm very comfortable at both ends of the floor. I'm physical and competitive defensively, I enjoy making the game required pass and can score under the basket as well from 3 point range.
My best attributes are my versatility to play multiple positions, my ability to finish around the rim with my touch, my rebounding using my length and I can make a stand still catch and shoot open shot from the outside.
I'm not a one area of the court player, I can adapt my game to the needs of my team and will rebound and distribute the ball as required.
I played for 6 years in the City of Sydney Division 1 Basketball Representative Program which has included being a team member of State Titles and Metropolitan wins and attendance at National Championships.
I’m extremely interested in playing US College basketball and I believe I have all the skills, strong work ethic, dedication, enthusiasm, belief and commitment to be successful.
I love to train, I bring a positive work attitude and I always give 100%. I'm passionate, prepared, committed and ready to play and compete. I'm proud to represent my teams at training, at games and off the court.
I'm also a very focused student and in the basketball off season. I keep fit and play for The Scots College in their 1sts Varsity Volleyball Team.
In July 2019 I played in a series of US Basketball Tournaments with Team Oz in California (West Coast Elite World Championships July 9-10 & Summer Classic July 11-14) and Nevada (Bigfoot Live July 17-21).

I have been working hard on my game with Shane Heal who represented Australia at the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004
Summer Olympic Games and was Captain at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens
Shane had two stints in the NBA, firstly in the 1996–97 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and secondly in the 2003–04 season with the San Antonio Spurs.
About my game Shane says;
"Jack’s overall skill package is well developed for his age group. Jack is athletic and uses this athleticism effectively. Jack can run the floor very well, can attack the rim as well as take the 3 point shot.
Jack has very good hands and can finish well around the ring on his right or left. Jack has a natural anticipation for the ball and is consequently an excellent rebounder.
Jack can play the shooting guard or small forward position and has been working on improving his foot speed in order to defend a perimeter player. With his long arms he is able to space himself effectively to contain quicker players.
Jack has a high basketball IQ and loves the game.
Jack is very coachable, takes on board all feedback and has a strong desire to improve.
Jack has a natural feel and understanding of the game that goes hand in hand with his competitive edge. Jack is a team player and has strong leadership qualities."
