Personal Statement
Dear Coach,
Basketball has played a big role in my life, helping me grow as a person and creating a strong bond with the sport. I started playing basketball in the fourth grade when I was in the United States, but my real passion for the game ignited in seventh grade at the American School of Budapest (AISB). I'll be honest and say that I was by no means a good player. Even in ninth grade, I couldn't make it to the Junior Varsity team. My parents then reminded me of how Michael Jordan didn't make his JV team either. While I'm not comparing myself to Michael Jordan, this idea motivated me to work hard, and I locked in over the summer. I managed to make Varsity in my sophmore year. Even if I was on the bench, to me, just the practices were enough.
