Personal Statement
I'm an Australian athlete who plays in Melbourne U18's basketball.
I am a talented Basketball player despite having had a slow start in all aspects of my sports life. Still, over the past 2 years, I have become hungrier and more of a hard-working individual who is diligent in improving my skills, making my body a temple, and reaching new heights to embody a player who is hungry for the thrill of all collegiate levels of sport including Basketball. I believe that coaches reading this can consider that I am a fast learner and a tough sports player who will not back down from a challenge set in front of me or any of my teams that I have participated in or future teams.
What sets me apart from other teenagers or younger adults is that I always listen to instructions, respect my coaches, and am always on time for training and competitions. I can also form aggressive presses in offensive situations. At the same time, on the defensive, I can adapt to the opponent's play style and scan up and down the court for any leakages or loose areas in either area of the court I dwell in, which would benefit my teammates. Even for fast break situations, I have a strong throwing arm, which means I will always pass the ball to the opposite side of the court in one go for continuous points. My stamina, acceleration and strength are enduring. Additionally, my high school academics could be better but I have worked hard to improve in all my subjects; I am in a positive space to excel as a college student while balancing pro basketball.
Ultimately, despite a slow start in basketball, I have worked hard to better my skills and have transformed myself into a hard-working and diligent player seeking to excel at the collegiate level. My ability to adapt on the court, form aggressive presses, have the eyes of an eagle, and excel in fast-break situations will make me a good candidate for any team that will rely on a Center or Power Forward. Despite my academic struggles during the COVID-19 lockdowns, I am committed to balancing my athletic and academic life in college and during my final year of high school or Sophomore year. The most invigorating aspect of my whole self is my dedication and hunger for success, making me a valuable asset to any team I join.
