Ever since I was a kid, my goal has been to play college basketball. It does not matter where, as long as I am playing the game I love. I have always dreamed of playing in a college arena in front of thousands of fans. Hearing my name being called and stepping onto the court for the first time. I knew this is what I wanted to do ever since I started playing basketball. I knew I would have to work hard to achieve my goals.
I believe I am a good fit for any team. I am a point guard that has developed into a leader. I wasn't always the best leader or the most vocal one, but I realized that I needed to be that leader if I wanted to win. I knew I needed to be that leader if I wanted to help my team in the best way possible. My coach got on me and said that I needed to step up and become a leader if I wanted to be a point guard at the next level. I listened to what he said and have improved on my leadership skills. Not only am I a good leader, I also see the floor well. I like to get out and push the ball. From there, I scan the court and try to find open teammates. As a point guard, I know it is my job to create for my teammates and I think I do a good job of that. I also like to attack the rim. It is important to always be aggressive and get in the lane. That is where the defense breaks down. Once I get in the paint, I look for a shot and if I don't have one I look for any open teammates. I finish well at the rim and I also do a good job of dumping it down to open guys when I get in the lane. I take care of the ball because that is important. My free throw shooting is excellent and I knock them down when they are crucial. I like the ball in my hands in close game situations because I am confident with myself that I will make the right decision.
I am different from other recruits. Most recruits get so overwhelmed with the basketball side of things, that they forget about academics. I get my things done in school and I do it the right way. I have a GPA of 3.8 and I am taking a college class to get me prepared for college. I have great character. I show respect and I have manners. You should always show good character off and on the court. You reflect yourself, your team, your school, and your family. Let it reflect in a good way.
I appreciate any of the coaches that took time out of their day to view my profile and read this statement. I hope I am the right fit for you!
