Jamisen Young '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coaches - My name is Jamisen Young from Kenosha, WI. I am finishing my senior year with Sunrise Christian Academy out of Wichita, Kansas playing on their Nike Elite basketball team. Along with being a part of their basketball team I am also finishing out my academic year on Honor Roll. I was a two sport athlete, participating in basketball and baseball and have spent 7+ years playing in the AAU environment.

My passion remains basketball. I am looking to play basketball at the collegiate level for a team that is a good fit not only on the court but also to pursuing a degree in Engineering / Architecture.

On the basketball court, I hustle from end-to-end. I play both the 1 and 2 depending on the opponent and need of the team. On the defensive end, my hustle and my long arms allow me to interfere with passing lanes and visibility, from making the guards work hard to fronting the post and help defense. On the offensive end, I am an unselfish player. I get my teammates involved and find that open guy while also earning my points, steals, rebounds etc. I willingly take the lead to make the team better and am very smart in situational basketball.

Sports are a big part of who I am. I just love the learning and growth these experiences allowed me in working with others, commitment, teamwork, leadership, perseverance, friendship, empathy, life skills, and fun. I can't wait to keep improving my skill and intelligence of the game to hopefully allow myself an opportunity to be a contributing player in a college program.
