Deshawn Murphy '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Deshawn Murphy, and I am a 16-year old Sophomore guard from Providence, KY. Basketball has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child growing up in the small town of Providence, there aren't many extracurricular activities available to us, so many of my friends and I relied on pick-up games on small country backroads and the occasional run at the city park when the court was available to pass the time. More recently, last year when my father passed away unexpectedly, along with my friends and family, basketball and working on my game kept me focused and motivated.

This past season while playing for Webster County High School, I was able to take a major leap, averaging 18 ppg and 7 rpg 2 stls and 2 blks, and I was selected to the 6th District All-District team. With hard work and dedication, I'll be looking to improve on all of these accolades next year and take my team further in the postseason. This summer, I'm off to a strong start playing with Team Griffin Elite out of Owensboro, KY and will look to keep elevating my game throughout the summer with the goal of winning as many games and getting as much exposure as possible.

My goals regarding basketball, are to continue to strive to reach my full potential as a player and leader on and off the court while playing at the highest level possible. I believe my strong work ethic and my will to be the best I can be separate me from other recruits, and I think I would be a great addition to any collegiate program willing to give me a chance. I am looking forward to the recruiting progress and hope that NCSA can help me find the right fit for my college career and beyond.
