Personal Statement

My name is Peyton Wilkie; I am nineteen years old and a Sophomore at Louisiana State University. I played varsity basketball for four years at Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana, where I was named academic all-state as a senior in 2013. As a senior, I averaged 13.2 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals. After graduating from high school, I had several offers from Division III, NAIA and some Division II schools to play college basketball, but I elected to forego basketball to concentrate on my academics. I now realize that I miss the game of basketball very, very much and have not found anything as a substitute for being on the floor in competition. I am intensely competitive, and have a rock-solid work ethic. I am currently 6'3"; tall and weigh 155 pounds. I have good speed and very good hand-eye coordination. I am a pure shooter, especially from three point range, where I shot 54.1% for my junior season, and 53.06% for my senior season, with an overall FG% of 52.19%. The range on my perimeter shot is huge, as my highlight videos depict. I also shoot well from the free throw line. It is my dream to play basketball at the collegiate level; it is my passion, and what drives me to work harder than the players around me.  I am a true student of the game and am of high quality character. I would be a great asset to any institution, as I know that my commitment and dedication to everything I do both academically and athletically is paramount. I had planned on attending walk-on tryouts at LSU, but was recently informed by the coaching staff that due to an abundance of scholarship players, they would not be conducting those tryouts. I am currently registered with the NCAA eligibility center and fully qualified. I am interested in transferring from LSU, with the hopes of earning a walk-on roster spot.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
