Daily words: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
At an early age my parents and relatives instilled in me the idea that in life hard work will pay-off. I have always loved to attend school and have strived for success both academically and athletically. I try very hard to be my best in school, church, and community. My parents are hard workers and have passed that lifestyle on to me. To quote something they tell me often, “Move get up and do something positive each day.” I have been taught to clean house, mow grass, garden, operate farming equipment, use carpentry tools, paint, and take care of animals on the farm.
My family and friends describe me as someone who is easy going, dependable, helpful, and strong willed. Many times I have served as a mediator when conflicts and arguments arise at school, home, and church. When it comes to working with others, I provide the ability to be persistent and continue on for success.
I am challenged to show success in life because of my family background. Many of my relatives graduated from college and have gone on to be doctors, lawyers, military, teachers, nurses, etc. I definitely want my family to feel proud of me. My mother is a certified mild moderate special needs teacher. She enjoys working with her students. I enjoy playing basketball and would enjoy a career playing basketball.
I work very hard each six week period at school to maintain a 3.6 grade point average. I am a member of the FCCLA and FBLA club. I am in regular attendance at church each Sunday and some mid- week services. I serve on the devotion committee, usher board, junior deacon, and will willingly do whatever asked of me by those communities in which I treasure.
My goal is to graduate from high school as an honor student and play college basketball. My parents didn’t really understand it when it began, but my passion for playing basketball started at a very young age. This passion was seen by excessively throwing toys in a pile, jumping from whatever possible, making makeshift balls and baskets, and running inside the house. Many times I would break light fixtures and other house fixtures. I can recall my parents remolded the ceiling in our house and I couldn’t wait to practice my jumping skills until the ceiling texture was wiped clean.
Over the course of the my past junior season I scored over 750 points in 35 games. I was awarded with the all district 2nd team guard plaque. I like to think I am a good basketball player and will improve shooting, rebounding and overall performance on the court with much rigorous practice. I have been known to be the level headed player on the court. Many times I advise my teammates to make wiser decisions on the court which helps us to gain our victories. Basketball is very important to me. I love to play the game. I know I must stay healthy and practice long and hard. Good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient and the best things come to those who don't give up! My goal is to pursue a degree in Aminal Science and play college basketball.
