Growing up, my favorite toy was a basketball. Even though my hands were dwarfed by the ball itself, I loved the feel and weight of it, as I tried to dribble, pass and throw. My two older brothers took me under their wing and played Pig and Knockout with me in the driveway. I was a loyal fan of their teams and traveled to cheer them on. By the ripe old age of 4, I was bitten by the basketball bug.
In the fourth grade, I started playing competitively for numerous AAU organizations, which whetted my appetite for more. I was always the last player to leave the gym and couldn’t wait to be back on the court the next day.
As the years passed, I continued to play for school teams, travel teams and AAU teams and my passion and drive for the sport deepened. I knew that basketball was destined to play a major role in my life, and I was ready to make a serious commitment to the sport.
I recognize the fact that sports and academics need to work in tandem. My studies continue to come first. I am diligent about organizing my schedule to keep up with my assignments. I don’t want “to drop the ball”. I am enrolled in both IB and Honors classes and presently maintain a 3.5 GPA.
I have also been a staple in the Gray-New Gloucester Feeder Program serving as a coach for both their summer camps and evening clinics. I enjoy being of service to my community which has been so supportive of me.
Not only am I coachable, but I am self-motivated. I have been a Varsity player for all 4 years and was voted Captain for my junior and senior year.
In my junior year, I completed the NFHS Captain’s Course, which honed my leadership skills to become an even more effective team captain. Even though the course was arduous, I was dedicated to do my best. I was also voted the MVP that year in addition to being selected to the Western Maine Conference First Team and the Division A South First Team.
During the spring and summer of my junior year, I received many accolades from the AAU Conference including Player of the Game, Team Captain for the Next Level Athletics and two peer awards, the Leadership Award and the Hardest Worker Award. Collectively, we won 3 separate tournaments in New England.
Presently, I hold the following records for Gray-New Gloucester High with most points per game (42), most 3-pointers in a game (9), most season average points per games (21) and led the team to a tying season record of 15-3.
My senior year at Gray/New Gloucester High our team finished breaking a school win-loss record 20-2. We also won the Class A State Championship for the first time in 49 years. I was selected for All-State, 1st team WMC All-Conference, 1st team All Division A South, McDonald All Star Team, Big Time Hoops Maine All Star Team. I was able to be part of the 1000 point club, scoring 1084 points at GNG which was the highest scoring record for any male basketball player. I currently hold the record for most 3 pointers at 182 3’s.
My collegiate goal is to play a major role in enhancing the team culture by serving as an ambassador for the program. I pledge to make a personal investment in recruiting future players, mentoring younger players and apprenticing with the coaching staff. Immersion into all aspects of the sport will make me both a well-rounded and versatile team member both on and off the court.
