Dear Perspective Coach(es), My name is Pierce Walston and I am a part of the 2024 graduating class at Orono High School in Orono Maine.
I feel I am different from other recruits in character and athletics because I don't just focus on my highlight plays and things I do well, I focus on my teammates' successes as well. Celebrating not just my achievements, but my teammates as well is something I see as extremely important when building a family-like atmosphere. If I ever see anyone down in practice or in a game my goal is to always pick them up mentally and get them back in the game. I feel I am academically different than most because academics always come first to me knowing that without the academics playing at the next level is nearly impossible. I also tend to push myself very hard when it comes to classes always going above and beyond.
This past year (my junior year 2022-2023) I had a list of awards that I received. I was a captain for my high school team and led us to winning the first state championship at my school in 42 years, I was named the 2023 All Tournament MVP, made All Tournament First Team, was named to the Third Team All State by Ticket TV, and was named to First Team All State by BigTimeHoopsMaine. For my conference I was named to the first team, received defensive player of the year, and averaged 18.6 points, 6.3 assists, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.4 steals per game.
My sophomore year, the 2021-2022 season I had a list of achievements as well. I was also a captain as a sophomore and led our team to the regional final where we lost to a strong Ellsworth team that had been unbeaten throughout the year, I made the Big East Basketball - First Team, led the league in assists (6.4), led my team in scoring (18.4) (third in the league), led my team in rebounds (5.8) (9th in the league), and led my team in steals (1st in the league)(3.2).
I currently have a 96.1040 GPA before weighing in the college psychology course I took this year which I finished with an A in.
I am always ready to learn whether it is on the basketball court or in the classroom. Thank you for your time in reviewing my profile and do not hesitate to reach out with any questions!
