Nikias Schoenerstedt '22 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Nikias Schönerstedt I am 18 years old and I am a 2022 SF/PF from Munich Germany. I am currently a post graduate at Wilbraham and Monson Academy, a school located in wilbraham Massachusetts. I joined the team mid of August and I will play for the schools Prep team in the NEPSAC AA competition. The goal of our team is to play a great season and to defend the Championship.

 I play Basketball since I am 6 years old and it was always my goal to play College in the USA. I played 12 years in Austria in all youth leagues and I was also allowed to practice and play in the first league in Austria at Traiskirchen Lions for 3 years. In summer 2020 I switched to IBAM (International Basketball Academy Munich ) in Munich, Germany. We played in the NBBL (Highest youth League in Germany) and the Regionalliga 1 (4 Best league in Germany).  But because of Covid our season got pretty much cancelled so we only had about 3 season games. In the summer 2021 I came to the US to play at WMA and our season has been going great so far and we are sitting at a 16-0 record so far. On January 17th 2022, my team and I where fortunate to play at the Hoophall classic in Springfield and got a big win over life christian academy.

I won 4 State Championships in Austria and was the state MVP in every of the 4 years. I was leading scorer of my team in 10 of the 12 years I played in Austria and was always the leading 3 Point shooter. My Team and I would have played in the Quaterfinals of the Austrian Championship in the 2019/2020 season if Covid-19 wouldn´t have stopped the season.

I want to attend college in order to combine my academic and athletic efforts on a very high level. Since I have been practicing twice to three times a day for the last 5 years, I have a high endurance and know what it takes to combine success on court and in classroom.
