I am passionate about God, family, personal growth, leading and loving people and crazy in love with basketball! I grew up in a big family which has developed in me an ability to work together as a team and to work toward positive outcomes with varying personalities and opinions. I was raised in a Christian home and made a personal decision to follow God and the wisdom of His principles. As I have sought to grow in character it has helped me influence and lead my peers and teammates around me in a positive way. After studying Romans 12 with a mentor of mine we talked about how we can use the gifts God has given us. I believe I have been gifted with leadership skills and am aware that people naturally gravitate towards me. I do not take that lightly and desire to grow in my understanding of how to be a positive influence both on and off the court.
I have a God-given passion for basketball. I am tenacious and persistent in wanting to continue to get better at what I do desiring to be the very best player I can be. I have a perspective that pushes me to give my all, and then some. A perspective that drives me to want to do the very most with what I have been given. My coaches tell me that no one works harder than me and I want that to be true. Adversity, hard things, falling short, with the right perspective can be used to grow. One of my favorite saying is from Michael Jordan, “I don’t lose, I learn.” I was raised to never give up. A strong work ethic and a teach-ability are sewn into the fiber of my being. Growing up I was often the smallest kid on my team but also the most passionate about wanting to be the best. That drove me to fight and work harder then everyone around me to get past that obstacle. I am where I am today because I made a choice to work harder than everyone else.
These things are true for me on and off the court. I always want to be growing and doing the most with what God has given me. Finding a school where I can grow academically and as a person as well as a player is big for me. My passionate commitment to personal growth: 1) as an athlete willing to put in the many hours needed to maximize my skills 2) as a gifted leader with a teachable spirit, and 3) as a student looking to maximize academic and personal potential, make me a great fit for your university.
