Personal Statement

I want to play basketball at the college level because I have a deep passion for the game. I started playing in kindergarten, and my love for basketball has only grown over the years. I’m currently a dual-enrolled student at Hannahville PSA and Bay College in Escanaba, Michigan, pursuing a criminal justice major with the dream of becoming a Michigan State Police Trooper. However, since I can't pursue that career until I’m 21, I’m focusing on my basketball journey. Basketball has always been more than just a sport to me—it’s been an escape, a teacher, and a source of growth. It has taught me patience, leadership, discipline, and dedication. I hope to play at the D2 or D3 level, but any opportunity to play college basketball would fulfill my dream. I strive to lead by example, helping my teammates develop their skills, whether it’s through fundamental techniques or complex strategies. I’m proud to hold my school’s record as the first 1,000-point scorer, achieving this milestone in my junior year, along with the records for most points in a season and career. While my GPA and SAT scores have room for improvement, I’m committed to retaking the SAT and raising my academic performance, knowing how important it is for college. I’m excited to take on the challenge of competing at the next level, both on the court and in the classroom, and to continue making an impact through my dedication and teamwork.
