My name is Ben Giles and I have been playing basketball since the age of six. I am team oriented, hardworking, and coachable, always trying to improve my game. I am starting my junior year at Chanhassen High School and this past AAU spring/summer season was played my second season for the Minnesota Fury 16U boys team. We competed at the highest level tournaments in the region finishing with a record of 29-15, winning the 2019 Summer Slam Tournament held at the Sioux Falls Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD. During the season I continued to learn the values of teamwork, commitment and determination as we had tournaments almost every weekend against top competition and practices multiple times throughout the week. My basketball work includes one on one training with Troy Hudson, the former Timberwolves NBA point guard. Our focus has been working on reading the defense and creating space, both with and without the ball to create better scoring opportunities for my teammates and myself.
Through my sophomore year, I have achieved a cumulative 3.86 GPA that included honors and AP classes. Over the next two years, my focus is to work hard to be in a position to attend an academically excellent school that allows me to continue pursuing my passion of playing basketball. I am currently a three sport athlete (soccer, basketball, track) and believe that my leadership and hard work can benefit the right program.
