Personal Statement

My name is Tracen Jilot. I am from Box Elder, Montana. Growing up in a small rural community has shown me that to stand out, you have to work harder. I am an all around athlete participating in football, basketball, and track. My sophomore year in track I took 2nd place for the class C state tournament in high jump. Basketball has been an integral part of my life since I was little. My Sophomore year I was selected for First team All-Conference and All-State for basketball. I feel basketball has instilled the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.  I feel my skills have developed from the countless hours of practice, on and off season.  My strengths are the ability to read the game, execute plays under pressure, and make split-second decisions. I strive to give my best effort and I am a coachable athlete.  I feel these qualities make me a good candidate for any team. I feel that my ability to be a team player, exceptional sportsmanship, integrity, ability to understand the game at a deep level are what makes me different than other recruits. I am able to bounce back from challenges and demonstrate respect both in the classroom and on the court.  I do understand the importance of maintaining strong academic performance as I purse my athletic dreams. I have made it a goal to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and make honor roll each quarter of high school.  I do hope that after I graduate from high school, I am able to play basketball at the college level.
