My name is Tobey Bellows and I am a 4 year Varsity Basketball Player, 3 year starter, a 2 year captain and I have led my team in scoring and assists since my sophomore year. I'm the first 1,000 point scorer at my school since 2006. I was the Prep Hoops Vermont D2 player of the year, as well as first team all conference and multiple time player of the week. I've deferred college interest and am doing a post graduate year at Kimball Union Academy. I'm focused on increasing my strength and explosiveness over the next year. I am very focused on both academics (honors student) and basketball. My family has a very strong athletic background, and I have lived basketball my whole life. Starting in pre-school as an early member of the local youth program, and playing up each year to play with older kids in all the school programs, AAU and mini metro programs. I have been the point guard for each of those teams, even as the youngest player, and am incredibly comfortable with the ball in my hand. I have been ambidextrous with the ball since 2nd grade and can actually shoot, comfortably, with both hands from 15 feet out. I shoot over 90% from the foul line, and over 50% from the 3 pt line, while averaging over three made per game. At 6'4" I'm actually just beginning my growth spurt, and am expected to be about 6'5", as my father and uncles (on both sides) are about the same size. I'm very focused on being a leader and excel on both including those around me in the game, as well as keeping everyone focused on the goal. In today's day and age it's very difficult to keep focus, with devices and social interaction on them at all moments, and I work with the coaching staff to make sure that everyone is fully engaged. My goals for the future are continue my basketball career into college. I have witnessed what college sports has done for my father and uncles and aspire for those very same things. I know that sports instills work ethic, team work, collaboration and leadership, to name a few, and want to enhance those skills in myself while playing a sport that I love. Thank you.
