Playing basketball is a huge part of my life. Growing up, I was always involved in some type of sport. At age five, I started to practice karate and had the opportunity to feel the thrill of competition. I took that feeling onto the sport of baseball years later and my desire of wanting to compete continued to grow. At age 9, I started to play basketball at a local community center. My first attempts at basketball were horrible. However, my sense of wanting to get better pushed me to learn the techniques of the game quickly. The following season, I had a better understanding of the basketball dynamics and through practice I was able to blossom my skills. Having control of the ball on the court, my excitement and love for basketball grew strong. I have been playing basketball since then for various organization throughout the years, including AAU, Florida Basketball & Volleyball Association, Youth Organized Basketball Organization, and now high school basketball. In order to stay competitive within the sport of basketball, I dedicate most of time to practicing and training with the goal of improving my skills each day, My goal is to fulfill my dreams with playing basketball on the college level and to acquire a college education that will prepare and transition me to becoming a successful adult . I have come to realize how much basketball motivates me to do better in life and now I am ready to take that challenge to the collegiate level. I do believe that a basketball player must have certain characteristics to be successful on the court and in the academic setting. Playing as a point guard, I find that I exercise those characteristics constantly, I have great confidence that I will continue to to positively compliment any basketball team. The attributes that I possess include competence, dedication, motivation, reliance, endurance, and respect for others, thanks to my role as a point guard. It is these experiences that have made me become the athlete that I am today and will allow me to transition easily from playing high school basketball to collegiate basketball. My desire to advance in life and my love for basketball will allow me to successfully face my future challenges without fear. I believe that continuing to play collegiate basketball will help me to survive in college. I welcome a team that will continue to challenge my desire to advance within the sport while fostering growth and discipline in this arena.
