I am Elijah Wright from Orange, NJ. I am a 6'2, 165lb Senior at The Pennington School in Pennington, NJ. I am the starting shooting guard for my high school team and my AAU team, The Central Jersey Future Stars. I like to run the floor and can play either the 1 or 2 positions. I played on the freshman team and just completed my second year as a member of The Pennington School Varsity Basketball Team. We are the NJISAA Prep B State Champions for both the 2013 and the 2014 seasons. I have amazing teammates and I was proud to be the lead scorer in our 2014 championship game. I was named NJ.com Player of the Week and named to the NJHoops Prep B Tournament team, The Trentonian’s All-Prep Second Team and The Times' All-Prep Second Team. I aim to be a player that my teammates can count on to work in our collective best interest. I am determined to be a key contributor to my team and I work hard to be a better player each season.
My athletic goal is to play basketball at the collegiate level. I am open to be considered by all division levels. I am the oldest of four brothers and I believe that it is my responsibility to set a good example for them. Ideally, I would like to stay on the east coast so that my family would be able to attend some of my games and my brothers would be able to see the results of my hard work. I am a boarding student at The Pennington School and that experience has taught me a lot about responsibility, independence and maturity. I think these lessons I learned as a boarder are helpful to me on the basketball court.
My academic goal is to attend a college or university that helps me grow as a person. I am not sure what I would like to major in. I have thought about majoring in math, or business, or sociology or criminal justice. I am not sure what career path I want to follow yet, but I do want to return to my neighborhood in Orange and use my degree to help the youth in my area.
