I am an entering 11th-grade student at The Hun School of Princeton. I am a 6’4”, 215 lbs, explosive and athletic 11th grader who has been playing basketball for as long as I can remember. I currently play on several basketball teams, between my school and AAU. I previously attended Horace Mann High School in the Bronx. Throughout my time there, I started on the Horace Mann Varsity team and lead the team in all stats. While there, I played the 1 and 2 position and over my time there, I averaged 17 points a game, 9 rebounds, 4 assist, 3 steals and 3 blocks. This past HS season, I took my team to the playoff for the first time in over 10 years. I've been voted Team MVP each year and I was 1st team all league last year. I played on the Gauchos AAU Basketball team until this AAU season (because the team completely broke up) where I played the 2 and 3 position and averaged 6 - 8 points per game and 5-6 rebounds. In 2016, we won the Division 1 8th Grade AAU Nationals where I was a starter and a major contributor. In 2017, we made it to the Under Armour Championship game but unfortunately fell short by 1 point. Lastly, I now play for the NY Rens where I also play the 1 and 2 positions and average about 10 points a game and just under 10 rebounds.
I have a strong ball IQ with excellent court vision, passing, ball handling and I'm a great finisher and 3-point shooter. I'm an unselfish player and I believe that I help make the players on my team better. I'm strong on defense and coaches typically allow me to defend the best player on the other team. My coaches typically compliment me on the fact that I’m a hard worker, very coachable and that I have a major impact on the game.
I am the son of Jennifer Smith, 5’9” who ran track in High School and Kelvin Smith, 6’4” who played basketball as a walk-on at SUNY Albany. My pediatrician has projected that I will be at least 6'5" tall.
While basketball is a huge part of my life, I realize that I’m attending college to get a great education that will prepare me for the next chapter of my life. At this point, I would like to study finance to become an Investment Banker. Therefore, the best fit for me will be a college with high academic standards while also having a strong basketball team.
