Growing up in a tight knit family has helped to shape the person that I have become. My family has impressed upon me the characteristics of responsibility, leadership and unity. These traits have taught me to grow not only as a person, but also as a basketball player. I believe that responsibility, leadership and forming a bond with my teammates are all qualities that not only make me a better basketball player and person on and off of the court, but also helps to make my team better. I’ve learned that it is much more important to work together as a team to succeed then it is to focus solely on individual play.
The game of basketball has been a love of mine since early grade school when I began to train and dedicate myself to developing my skills of defense, ballhandling, shooting and court awareness. Through my teamwork and skills I was fortunate enough to catch the eye of a coach at Don Bosco Prep, a top high school in the State of New Jersey. For me, it was an honor and a privilege to be invited to attend and play for Don Bosco; an honor and privilege that I do not take lightly. Don Bosco Prep was attractive to me not only for the opportunities that I would be given to be coached by excellent coaches and to play with top players, but also for the academic opportunities and programs that Don Bosco offers. Academics are very important to me as I aspire to achieve a future degree in finance or business management.
Last year I helped to lead my team to a 25-3 record. It was great experience to be part of such an amazing program. I learned from my coaches that a successful team requires teamwork, commitment to the goal of winning and leadership. They also reinforced what my family taught me, the importance of responsibility. I understand that my actions and conduct are a reflection on my team, the program and my school. This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly and I lead by example. I will continue to conduct myself in a way that reflects positively on the school and program that I play for. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit not only for my athletic abilities, but for my academic abilities as well. I believe that I can make an immediate, positive impact on a college team with the leadership and work-ethic skills that I possess as well as my ability to make my teammates better. I have always been a part of winning programs and I know that I have what it takes to be a leader and asset to your team!
